Sweethearts of the Armed Forces

Taken from a nickname given to the Andrews Sisters, a popular singing group famous for performing in U.S.O. shows during World War II, Sweethearts of the Armed Forces features the names of women who's lives were lost as a result of the Civil War. Whether they were working in an arsenal that exploded, tortured for information on their husbands and sons, or shot by stray bullets, the lives of these women are often overlooked in favor of more heroic tales of war.
